How to Use

Dosage

Start with 8 to 12 lozenges per day. Take a lozenge whenever you feel a strong craving to smoke.

Method

Place a lozenge in your mouth and let it dissolve. Move it from one side of your mouth to the other until it has fully dissolved, which usually takes about 20 minutes. Do not chew or swallow the lozenge. Do not eat or drink while a lozenge is in your mouth.

Important

Do not exceed 15 lozenges per day. Follow the instructions carefully.

  • Burning sensation in the mouth, inflammation in the mouth or altered taste
  • Feeling cold, hot, or tingling on the skin

  • Vomiting, gas, or diarrhea
  • Heartburn
  • Tiredness
  • Hypersensitivity (allergy)
RARE
  • Stuffy nose or sneezing
  • Wheezing (bronchospasm) or shortness of breath, tightness in the throat
  • Flushing or increased sweating
  • Tingling in the mouth, tongue inflammation, mouth sores, damage to mouth lining or voice changes, pain in the mouth or throat, belching
  • Palpitations, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure
  • Fast and irregular heartbeat that needs treatment
  • Rash, itchy skin
  • Abnormal dreams
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Weakness, feeling unwell
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Reduced sensation in the mouth
  • Gagging
  • Blurred vision
  • Increased tear production
  • Dry throat
  • Stomach and intestinal problems
  • Lip pain
  • Red skin
  • Seizures
  • Hives (itchy or red rash), swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, breathing difficulties, difficulty swallowing. If these severe symptoms occur, stop use and seek immediate medical attention.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to nicotine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you are under 12 years old or if you have never smoked.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have recently had a heart attack or stroke.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have chest pain, a heart condition that affects your heart rate or rhythm, or untreated high blood pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe liver or kidney disease, diabetes, an overactive thyroid gland, a tumor on your adrenal gland, stomach ulcers, inflammation of the esophagus, or a history of epilepsy or seizures.

  • Do not use Nicorette lozenges if you are not a smoker.
  • Lozenges can be a choking hazard. Use with caution if you have trouble swallowing or often cough when eating or drinking.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children. An adult dose can be very harmful or even fatal to a child.
  • If you cannot stop smoking after 9 months of using Nicorette lozenges, talk to a healthcare professional.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking or have recently taken, as they may interact with Nicorette.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to quit smoking without nicotine products. If you cannot, talk to your doctor before using Nicorette lozenges.
