How to Use

Dosage

Start with 8–12 lozenges per day, taking one whenever you feel a craving for a cigarette.

Method

Place a lozenge in your mouth and let it dissolve slowly for about 20 minutes, moving it from one side of your mouth to the other; do not chew, swallow, eat, or drink while it's dissolving.

Important

Do not exceed 15 lozenges per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Cough
  • Headache

  • Irritation in the throat, mouth, or tongue
  • Local effects like burning sensation, mouth inflammation, or altered taste
  • Feeling cold, hot, or tingling on the skin
  • Dry mouth or increased saliva
  • Indigestion, stomach pain or discomfort
  • Vomiting, bloating, or diarrhea
  • Heartburn
  • Fatigue
  • Hypersensitivity (allergy)
RARE
  • Nasal symptoms like stuffiness or sneezing
  • Wheezing (bronchospasm), difficulty breathing, or feeling of a tight throat
  • Flushing or increased sweating
  • Mouth symptoms like tingling, tongue inflammation, mouth ulcers, voice changes, mouth or throat pain, belching
  • Palpitations, rapid heart rate, high blood pressure
  • Rapid and irregular heart rhythm (may require medication)
  • Rash, itchy skin
  • Abnormal dreams
  • Chest pain or discomfort
  • Weakness, general feeling of being unwell
  • Difficulty swallowing, reduced mouth sensation, gagging
  • Blurred vision, increased tear production
  • Dry throat, stomach and gut problems, lip pain
  • Skin redness
  • Seizures

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to nicotine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Not for use by children under 12 years of age.
  • Do not use if you have never smoked.
  • The lozenges can be a choking hazard.
  • Keep out of sight and reach of children, as a dose for an adult can seriously harm or even kill a child.

  • Stop use and see a doctor immediately if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as hives, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you recently had a heart attack or stroke, or have other serious heart problems.
  • It is very important to stop smoking during pregnancy; avoid using Nicorette lozenges while breastfeeding unless advised by a doctor.
