How to Use

Dosage

Chew 8-12 pieces of Nicorette gum daily. Choose 4 mg strength if you smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day; otherwise, use 2 mg strength.

Method

Chew the gum slowly until you feel a strong taste or tingling. Rest it in your cheek, then chew slowly again when the taste fades. Continue this on-and-off chewing for about 30 minutes. Chewing too fast can cause hiccups or nausea.

Important

Do not use more than 24 pieces of gum in one day.

RARE
  • Unusual dreams.
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (palpitations, atrial fibrillation).
  • High blood pressure or flushing (redness).
  • Wheezing, difficulty breathing, or feeling of throat tightness.
  • Nasal issues like runny nose, stuffy nose, or sneezing.
  • Pain or tingling in the mouth or throat, hoarseness, tongue inflammation, mouth ulcers, or damage to mouth lining.
  • Bleeding gums or belching.
  • Increased sweating, rash, itching, or hives.
  • Jaw muscle pain, general weakness, feeling unwell, or chest discomfort.
  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis).
  • Difficulty swallowing or gagging.
  • Reduced sensation in the mouth.
  • Blurred vision or increased tears.
  • Dry throat.
  • Stomach or bowel problems or lip pain.
  • Skin redness, muscle stiffness, or seizures.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to nicotine or any other ingredient in the gum.
  • Do not use if you are under 12 years old.
  • Do not use if you do not smoke.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have had a recent heart attack or stroke.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have chest pain, heart problems that affect your heartbeat, or untreated high blood pressure.

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it's best to quit smoking without nicotine products. If you cannot, talk to your doctor before using Nicorette.
  • Some ingredients (like butylhydroxytoluene or sorbitol) can cause skin reactions, eye irritation, or may not be suitable if you have certain sugar intolerances. Read the leaflet and ask your doctor if unsure.
  • Stop using Nicorette gum and get urgent medical help if you have severe rare side effects such as swelling of your face, tongue, or throat, difficulty swallowing, hives, or trouble breathing.
