How to Use

Dosage

If you smoke heavily (over 20 cigarettes/day), start with one 25 mg/16 hour patch daily; if you smoke lightly (up to 20 cigarettes/day), start with one 15 mg/16 hour patch daily.

Method

Apply one patch to clean, dry, hairless skin on your body (e.g., torso, hip, upper arm, or chest) each morning and remove it after about 16 hours before going to bed. Change the application site daily.

Important

Do not use more than one patch per day, and generally not for longer than 6 months.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to nicotine or other ingredients, or if you have a widespread, long-term skin disease.
  • Talk to your doctor before use if you have recently had a heart attack or stroke, chest pain, heart problems affecting your heart rate, peripheral artery disease, untreated high blood pressure, or diabetes.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have severe kidney or liver problems, overactive thyroid, a tumor of the adrenal gland, stomach or intestinal ulcers, or a history of epilepsy or seizures.
  • Remove the patch before an MRI scan to avoid skin burns.
  • Do not use if you are under 18 years old without advice from a healthcare professional.

  • If pregnant, try to quit smoking without nicotine products first. If breastfeeding, Nicorette is not recommended as nicotine passes into breast milk. Always consult a healthcare professional.
  • Do not smoke or use other nicotine products while using Nicorette patches.
  • If you use too much nicotine or if a child accidentally gets hold of nicotine, contact a doctor or poison control center immediately.
