Neotigason

Neotigason capsules contain acitretin, a retinoid medicine, and are used to treat certain skin conditions like psoriasis, ichthyosis, and Darier's disease, or abnormal skin thickening when other treatments don't work well.

How to Use

Dosage

Take as directed by your doctor; dosage varies by patient.

Method

Swallow the capsule whole with water or another non-alcoholic drink during a meal or with milk.

Important

Adults: usually not more than 75mg. Children: usually not more than 35mg.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Dry, irritated, or swollen eyes; dry or irritated nose; dry mouth; thirst; dry or inflamed lips; itching; hair loss; skin peeling; changes in liver function (seen in blood tests); increased blood fat levels (seen in blood tests).
RARE
  • Damage to peripheral nerves with symptoms like muscle weakness, numbness and tingling, or burning/shooting pain; severe skin reaction with rash, blisters, or peeling.

Important Warnings

  • Neotigason can cause serious harm to an unborn baby. You MUST use effective birth control before, during, and for 3 years after treatment.
  • Do not donate blood during treatment or for 3 years after stopping due to risk to pregnant women.
  • Avoid alcohol during and for two months after treatment.
