How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will give you one ampoule or vial (1000 mg/4 ml) for each injection.

Method

This medicine is given as a very slow injection directly into a muscle.

Important

Injections are typically given every 10 to 14 weeks. Your doctor will adjust the timing based on your testosterone levels.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Too many red blood cells
  • Weight gain
  • Hot flashes
  • Acne
  • Enlarged prostate and related issues
  • Reactions at the injection site (e.g., pain, bruising, irritation)
RARE
  • Allergic reaction
  • Increased appetite, changes in blood test results (e.g., high blood sugar or fats)
  • Depression, mood swings, sleeplessness, restlessness, aggression, or irritability
  • Headache, migraine, or tremors
  • Heart and blood vessel diseases, high blood pressure, or dizziness
  • Bronchitis, sinusitis, cough, shortness of breath, snoring, or voice problems
  • Diarrhea or nausea
  • Changes in liver function tests
  • Hair loss or various skin reactions (e.g., itching, redness, dry skin)
  • Joint pain, limb pain, muscle problems (e.g., cramps, muscle pain or stiffness), increased creatine phosphokinase in blood
  • Urinary tract disorders (e.g., poor urine flow, urinary retention, frequent nighttime urination)
  • Prostate disorders (e.g., prostate dysplasia, hardening or inflammation of the prostate), changes in sexual desire, testicular pain, tender/hard/enlarged breasts, or increased levels of male and female sex hormones
  • Fatigue, general weakness, excessive sweating, or night sweats
  • Microembolism in the lungs (oil droplets in lungs) with symptoms like cough, shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, chest pain, dizziness, tingling sensations, or fainting. These usually go away.
  • Suspected severe allergic reactions (anaphylactic reactions).
  • Nervousness, hostility
  • Short, involuntary pauses in breathing during sleep
  • Various other skin reactions, including dandruff and oily skin
  • Increased hair growth
  • More frequent erections
  • Yellowing of eyes and skin (jaundice), very rarely
  • Reduced or stopped sperm production, which usually returns to normal after stopping treatment.
  • Prolonged, painful erections (priapism), rarely
  • Fluid retention and swelling

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Nebido if you are allergic to testosterone or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use Nebido if you have or might have prostate or breast cancer, or if you have had a liver tumor.
  • Nebido is not for use in women.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe heart, liver, or kidney problems, as Nebido can cause fluid buildup in your body and may lead to heart failure.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood clotting problems, as this is important information before you get a Nebido injection.

  • Watch for signs of blood clots like swelling, sudden skin color changes, sudden shortness of breath, or chest pain, and get medical help right away.
  • This medicine is not for children or teenagers.
  • Do not use Nebido to build muscles or enhance athletic performance, as it can cause serious health issues and a positive doping test result.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category D
