Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Allergic reactions such as hives, rash, and itching.
  • Fever and chills.
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Shaking or trembling.
  • Redness, streaks, or burning feeling at the injection site.
RARE
  • Very low sodium levels in the blood, which can cause serious brain problems, brain swelling, permanent brain damage, or even death.
  • Too much sodium in the blood or blood becoming too acidic.
  • Breathing difficulties, high blood pressure, or trouble breathing because of too much fluid in the body.
  • Weakness, muscle cramps, double vision, poor eyesight, confusion, trouble speaking or swallowing, extreme tiredness, drowsiness, or slow responses, which can be signs of serious nerve damage.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you have too much chloride or sodium in your blood.
  • Do not use this medicine if you have too much fluid in your body.
  • Do not use if the solution has particles or if the package is damaged.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart, kidney, or liver problems, high blood pressure, or swelling.
  • This medicine can cause very low sodium levels in your blood, which may lead to headaches, confusion, seizures, or brain swelling. Children and women of childbearing age are at higher risk.
