Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Itching or rash
  • Pain, redness, or swelling at the site where the medicine is given
  • Irritation of the vein where the medicine is given
RARE
  • A severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), which can be very serious
  • Too much sugar in the blood (hyperglycemia), with symptoms like dry mouth, thirst, tiredness, frequent urination, and blurred vision
  • Too little sodium in the blood (hyponatremia), which can cause headache, nausea, seizures, confusion, coma, and brain swelling
  • Too much sodium in the blood (hypernatremia), which can cause thirst, dry mouth/eyes, fever, fast heart rate, high blood pressure, headache, dizziness, restlessness, irritability, tiredness, and sometimes confusion or seizures
  • Swelling in the body due to too much fluid

Important Warnings

  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to any of its ingredients, especially corn.
  • Do not use if you have too much fluid or blood in your body, or if you have swelling (edema).
  • Do not use if you have severe kidney problems or uncontrolled heart failure.
  • Do not use if you have very high levels of sodium or sugar in your blood.
  • If you have diabetes that is not well-controlled, tell your doctor.
