How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your dose based on your age, weight, and condition.

Method

This medicine is given as an infusion (drip) into a vein.

Important

For adults, the maximum daily dose is 40 ml per kg of body weight.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Very low sodium level in your blood (hyponatremia)
  • Brain swelling due to low sodium, which can cause severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, seizures, tiredness, and lack of energy, and may lead to permanent brain damage or death.
  • Pain at the place where the drip is inserted

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you have too much fluid in your body or too much blood.
  • Do not use if you have very low salt levels in your body due to dehydration.
  • Do not use if you have severe heart failure, kidney disease with little or no urine, liver disease with swelling, or very low sodium or chloride in your blood.
  • Tell your doctor if you are on a low-sodium diet, have low potassium, or have overactive adrenal glands.
  • This medicine can lower your blood sodium, especially if you have certain conditions. Your doctor will monitor your salt levels closely.
