How to Use

Dosage

For adults, typical starting doses range from 500 mg to 750 mg, followed by 250-500 mg every 6-12 hours depending on the condition. For children over 5 years and weighing more than 25 kg, the dose is 10 mg per kg body weight daily, divided into two doses.

Method

Take by mouth. Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, either with food or after food. The tablet can be divided into equal doses.

Important

The maximum daily dose is determined by your doctor, usually up to 1000-1500 mg, and should not be exceeded.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, dizziness, daytime sleepiness
  • Heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, constipation, gas
  • Swelling (fluid retention)
  • Ringing in the ears
  • Vision disturbances
  • Shortness of breath
  • Prolonged bleeding time
RARE
  • Stomach or intestinal bleeding (vomiting blood or black stools)
  • Stomach or intestinal ulcers or perforations
  • Severe stomach pain radiating to the back (pancreas problems)
  • Worsening of inflammatory bowel conditions (Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis)
  • Difficulty breathing or chest tightness (allergic reaction)
  • Sudden swelling of the throat, face, hands, or feet (allergic reaction)
  • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
  • Fatigue, loss of appetite, feeling sick, pale stools (signs of liver problems)
  • Severe skin rash with blisters or peeling skin, possibly in mouth, throat, or eyes
  • Chest pain that may spread to the neck, shoulders, and left arm (heart attack symptom)
  • Muscle weakness or numbness on one side of the body (stroke symptom)
  • Sudden changes in smell, taste, hearing, or vision, confusion (stroke symptom)
  • Fever, stiff neck, headache, light sensitivity, confusion (meningitis symptom)
  • Blurred vision, spinning sensation, numbness or tingling, hearing problems, heart palpitations
  • Vomiting, inflammation of mouth lining, indigestion, thirst, acid problems, diarrhea, bloody stools
  • Bruising, purple rash (purpura), sweating
  • Insomnia, mood changes, memory problems, confusion, muscle weakness, hair loss

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to naproxen, aspirin, or other similar pain relievers (like ibuprofen).
  • Do not take if you have or have had stomach ulcers, bleeding, or a perforation in your stomach or intestines.
  • Do not take if you have severe liver, kidney, or heart failure.
  • Do not take during the last three months of pregnancy, as it can harm your unborn baby.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding, as the medicine passes into breast milk.
