How to Use

Dosage

The usual recommended dose is one 50 mg tablet once a day, or as your doctor tells you. Treatment often starts with a 25 mg dose (half a tablet) daily, then increases to 50 mg daily.

Method

Take Naltrexon Accord tablets by mouth with a small amount of liquid.

Important

Do not take more than one 50 mg tablet per day, unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take opiates (like pain medicines or cough syrups that contain opioids) while you are taking Naltrexon Accord. This can cause very serious breathing and circulation problems.
  • Do not use Naltrexon Accord if you are still dependent on opiates, as it will cause severe and painful withdrawal symptoms.
  • Always tell any doctor, dentist, or other healthcare professional treating you that you are taking Naltrexon Accord. This is important, especially if you need pain relief or anesthesia.
  • Do not try to overcome the effect of Naltrexon Accord by taking very large doses of opiates, as this can lead to a serious and potentially fatal overdose once Naltrexon Accord wears off.
  • Naltrexon Accord can affect your liver. Your doctor will do blood tests to check your liver function before and during treatment.

  • Naltrexone should not be used in children or young people under 18 years because there is not enough information about its safety in this age group.
  • If you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
  • This medicine may make you feel dizzy or less alert. If this happens, do not drive or use machines.
  • This medicine contains lactose. If your doctor has told you that you cannot tolerate some sugars, talk to your doctor before taking this medicine.
