How to Use

Dosage

Take 1 tablet once a day, unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

Method

Take the tablet with a small amount of liquid.

Important

Do not take more than 1 tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache, feeling restless.
  • Trouble sleeping, nervousness, anxiety.
  • Stomach ache, stomach cramps, feeling sick (nausea).
  • Vomiting.
  • Pain in joints and muscles.
  • Feeling weak or tired.
  • Less appetite.
  • Feeling more energetic, hopeless, irritable, or having mood swings.
  • Dizziness, spinning sensation (vertigo).
  • Increased tear production.
  • Fast heart rate, pounding heart (palpitations), changes in heart rhythm (ECG changes).
  • Chest pain.
  • Diarrhoea or constipation.
  • Skin rash.
  • Difficulty emptying your bladder (urinary retention).
  • Delayed ejaculation, reduced sexual potency.
  • Thirst, chills, increased sweating.
RARE
  • Thoughts of harming yourself, suicide attempts.
  • Unexplained muscle pain, cramps, or weakness; in very rare cases, this can be severe, leading to kidney damage or even death.
  • Cold sores (oral herpes), athlete's foot.
  • Swollen lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy).
  • Seeing or hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations), confusion, depression, paranoia, feeling lost or disoriented, nightmares, feeling agitated, changes in sex drive, unusual dreams.
  • Shaking (tremor), feeling very sleepy.
  • Blurred vision, eye irritation, sensitivity to light, swollen eyes, eye pain, eye strain.
  • Ear discomfort, ear pain, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), spinning sensation (vertigo).
  • Changes in blood pressure, flushing (redness and warmth in face/neck).
  • Stuffy nose, discomfort in nose, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, increased mucus, sinus problems, shortness of breath, hoarse voice, cough, yawning.
  • Gas (flatulence), haemorrhoids, ulcers, dry mouth.
  • Liver problems, increased bilirubin in blood, hepatitis (liver function usually returns to normal within weeks after stopping treatment).
  • Oily skin (seborrhoea), itching, acne, hair loss.
  • Groin pain, frequent urination, painful urination.
  • Increased appetite, weight loss, weight gain, fever, pain, cold or hot feeling in hands and feet.
  • Low platelet count, which can increase the risk of bleeding.
  • Speech problems.
  • Feeling very happy (euphoria).
  • Red skin rash (exanthema).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Naldix if you are allergic to naltrexone or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Naldix if you are taking or have recently taken opioid medicines (like morphine).
  • Do not use Naldix if you are dependent on opioids and withdrawal hasn't worked.
  • Do not use Naldix if you have severe liver disease or acute hepatitis.
  • Do not use Naldix if you have severe kidney disease.

  • Do not take Naldix with methadone.
  • Always tell any doctor or pharmacist treating you that you are taking Naldix.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Liver tests will be done before and during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
  • Naldix can affect the results of liver function blood tests.
  • Pain should not be treated with opioid medicines while you are taking Naldix.
  • Naldix can cause severe withdrawal symptoms if you are dependent on opioids.
  • This medicine may make you feel sleepy or affect your ability to drive or use machines safely.
