How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the right dose for you based on your health condition.

Method

A doctor or nurse will give you this medicine in the hospital through a vein (intravenously), often as a continuous infusion. Your blood pressure will be closely monitored.

Important

The medicine will be given as long as needed to keep your blood pressure stable. Your doctor will adjust the dose as necessary.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Anxiety, trouble sleeping
  • Headache, dizziness
  • Shaking (tremor)
  • Sudden high pressure in the eyes (acute glaucoma)
  • Fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; changes in heart's electrical activity (ECG)
  • High blood pressure
  • Reduced oxygen to organs
  • Cold and pale hands, feet, or face; pain and coldness in limbs
  • Reduced blood volume
  • Trouble breathing
  • Feeling sick (nausea) and vomiting
  • Trouble emptying your bladder
  • Redness, irritation, or tissue damage at the injection site
RARE
  • Severe drop in blood pressure from heart problems (cardiogenic shock, stress-induced heart muscle weakness)
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Chest pain behind the breastbone
  • Fever, severe sweating
  • Bleeding in the brain
  • Severe shock (circulatory collapse)
  • Heart stopping

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to noradrenaline or any other ingredients.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are having anesthesia with cyclopropane or halothane.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart disease, chest pain, or have recently had a heart attack.
  • Tell your doctor if you have blood clots or blockages in blood vessels (e.g., in the heart or gut).
  • Tell your doctor if you have high blood pressure or low blood pressure due to low blood volume.
