How to Use

Dosage

The usual daily dose is 1440 mg, taken in two separate doses. For example, 4 tablets of 180 mg or 2 tablets of 360 mg in the morning and in the evening.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, split, or take broken tablets.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 1440 mg.

Possible Side Effects

  • Low white blood cell count
  • Low blood calcium levels (hypocalcemia)
  • Low blood potassium levels (hypokalemia)
  • High uric acid levels in blood (hyperuricemia)
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Anxiety
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain (arthralgia)
  • Anemia (low red blood cell count, leading to tiredness, shortness of breath, paleness)
  • Thrombocytopenia (low platelet count, leading to unexpected bleeding and bruising)
  • High blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia)
  • Low blood magnesium levels (hypomagnesemia)
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnoea)
  • Abdominal pain, digestive problems (abdominal bloating, constipation, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, loose stools)
  • Fatigue, fever
  • Abnormal liver or kidney function test results
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Acne
  • Weakness (asthenia)
  • Muscle pain (myalgia)
  • Swelling in hands, ankles, or feet (peripheral edema)
  • Itching
RARE
  • Fast or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia, ventricular extrasystoles)
  • Fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Tumor resembling a sac containing fluid (lymphocele)
  • Tremors, sleep disturbances
  • Red and swollen eyes (conjunctivitis), blurred vision
  • Wheezing
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms (belching, bad breath, bowel obstruction, mouth ulcers, heartburn, tongue discoloration, dry mouth, gum inflammation, pancreatitis, salivary gland blockage, peritonitis)
  • Inflammation in bones, blood, and skin
  • Urinary problems (blood in urine, kidney damage, burning sensation during urination, difficulty urinating)
  • Hair loss, skin bruising
  • Joint pain (arthritis), back pain, muscle cramps
  • Loss of appetite, elevated blood fat, sugar, and cholesterol levels
  • Flu-like symptoms (fatigue, chills, sore throat, joint or muscle pain, swollen ankles and feet, pain, stiffness, thirst, weakness)
  • Strange dreams, delusions
  • Erectile dysfunction
  • Respiratory symptoms (cough, breathing difficulties, painful breathing)

Important Warnings

  • Myfortic can cause birth defects and miscarriage. Women must use effective birth control and have a negative pregnancy test before starting treatment.
  • Do not take Myfortic if you are allergic to mycophenolic acid or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Myfortic increases your risk of skin cancer. Protect your skin from the sun and avoid UV light by wearing protective clothing and using high-factor sunscreen.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have signs of infection (like fever or sore throat), unusual bruising or bleeding, a long-lasting cough, or trouble breathing.
  • Do not switch between Myfortic and other medicines that sound similar, like mycophenolate mofetil, without your doctor's instruction.

  • Do not use Myfortic if you are breastfeeding, as small amounts of the medicine may pass into breast milk.
