How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose is 0.2 ml of solution as a single injection.

Method

An eye surgeon gives this medicine as an injection into the eye at the start of cataract surgery, with local anaesthesia.

Important

No additional doses should be given.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • lens damage (posterior capsule rupture)
  • retinal swelling (cystoid macular oedema)
  • headache
  • corneal swelling (keratitis)
  • increased eye pressure
  • eye redness (ocular hyperaemia)
  • high blood pressure (hypertension)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Mydrane if you are allergic to its active substances (tropicamide, phenylephrine, lidocaine) or any other ingredient in the medicine, to amide-type anaesthetics, or to atropine derivatives.
  • The medicine is not recommended for certain cataract surgeries (vitrectomy), if the front part of the eye is shallow, or if you have had a sudden increase in eye pressure.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have high blood pressure, thickened artery walls, heart disease, overactive thyroid, prostate problems, seizures, liver or kidney problems, breathing difficulties, or myasthenia gravis.
  • This medicine should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Do not drive or use machines until your vision has returned to normal after receiving Mydrane injection solution.
