How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose, which depends on your transplanted organ; for kidney transplants, adults typically take 2 grams (4 tablets) daily, divided into two doses.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water; do not break or crush them.

Important

The maximum daily dose is typically 3 grams (6 tablets), as directed by your doctor.

RARE
  • Skin issues: Acne, cold sores, shingles, thickened skin, hair loss, rash, itching

  • Digestive issues: Swollen gums, mouth sores, inflammation of pancreas, intestines or stomach, digestive problems including bleeding, liver problems, constipation, nausea, indigestion, loss of appetite, gas
  • Nervous system issues: Dizziness, numbness, shaking, muscle cramps, seizures, anxiety or depression, changes in thinking or mood
  • Heart and blood vessel issues: Changes in blood pressure, faster heartbeat, widened blood vessels
  • Lung issues: Pneumonia, bronchitis, shortness of breath, cough, fluid in the lungs or chest, sinus problems
  • Other issues: Weight loss, gout, high blood sugar

Important Warnings

  • This medicine can cause severe birth defects and miscarriages. If you are a woman who can become pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test before starting treatment and use effective birth control during treatment and for 6 months after stopping the medicine.
  • Mycophenolate mofetil Hexal weakens your immune system, which means you might get infections more easily and have a higher risk of skin cancer. Protect yourself from the sun with clothing and high SPF sunscreen.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor's advice. Stopping it could increase the risk of your body rejecting the transplanted organ.
  • Do not donate blood during treatment or for at least 6 weeks after stopping. Men should not donate sperm during treatment or for 3 months after stopping.
  • This medicine is not for children younger than 2 years old.
