How to Use

Dosage

The usual daily dose is 1440 mg, taken as two 720 mg doses (for example, 4 x 180 mg tablets or 2 x 360 mg tablets per dose) in the morning and evening.

Method

Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush, or take tablets that are already broken or split.

Important

Your daily dose should not exceed 1440 mg (8 tablets of Myastad 180 mg or 4 tablets of Myastad 360 mg).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Low white blood cell count
  • Low blood calcium (hypocalcemia)
  • Low blood potassium (hypokalemia)
  • High uric acid in blood (hyperuricemia)
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Anxiety
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain (arthralgia)
RARE
  • Low red blood cell count, which may lead to tiredness, shortness of breath, and pale skin (anemia)
  • Low platelet count (thrombocytopenia), which may lead to unexpected bleeding and bruising
  • High blood potassium (hyperkalemia)
  • Low blood magnesium (hypomagnesemia)
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Cough
  • Low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnea)
  • Abdominal pain, stomach lining inflammation, bloated stomach, constipation, indigestion, flatulence, loose stools, nausea, vomiting
  • Tiredness, fever
  • Abnormal liver or kidney function test results
  • Respiratory tract infections
  • Acne
  • Weakness (asthenia)
  • Muscle pain (myalgia)
  • Swollen hands, ankles or feet (peripheral edema)
  • Itching
  • Rapid heart rate (tachycardia) or irregular heartbeat (ventricular extrasystoles), fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema)
  • Growth that looks like a sac (cyst) filled with fluid (lymph) (lymphoedema)
  • Tremors, sleep problems
  • Red and swollen eyes (conjunctivitis), blurred vision
  • Wheezing
  • Belching, bad breath, bowel obstruction (ileus), mouth sores, heartburn, tongue discoloration, dry mouth, gingivitis, pancreatitis leading to severe upper abdominal pain, salivary gland blockage, peritonitis
  • Inflammation in bones, blood and skin
  • Blood in urine, kidney damage, burning sensation when urinating, and difficulty urinating
  • Hair loss, skin bruises
  • Arthritis, back pain, muscle cramps
  • Loss of appetite, high blood fats (hyperlipidemia), sugar (diabetes) and cholesterol levels (hypercholesterolemia), or low blood phosphate (hypophosphatemia)
  • Flu-like symptoms (such as tiredness, chills, sore throat, joint or muscle pain), swollen ankles and feet, pain, stiffness, thirst, weakness
  • Strange dreams, delusions
  • Inability to achieve or maintain an erection
  • Cough, breathing difficulties, painful breathing (possible symptoms of interstitial lung disease)
  • Rash
  • Fever, sore throat, frequent recurring infections (possible symptoms of low white blood cells) (agranulocytosis)

Important Warnings

  • If you are a woman who can become pregnant, Myastad can cause birth defects and miscarriage. You must have a negative pregnancy test before starting treatment and follow your doctor's advice on contraception.
  • Do NOT take Myastad if you are allergic to mycophenolic acid, mycophenolate sodium, mycophenolate mofetil, or any other ingredients in Myastad.
  • Do NOT take Myastad if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, or if you are breastfeeding.
  • Myastad weakens your body's defenses against sunlight, increasing the risk of skin cancer. Limit sun exposure and UV light by wearing protective clothing and using high SPF sunscreen.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you have signs of infection (like fever or sore throat), unusual bruising, or bleeding.

  • Do not donate blood during Myastad treatment or for at least 6 weeks after stopping. Men should not donate semen during treatment or for at least 90 days after stopping.
