Mutaflor

Mutaflor oral suspension is a medicine used to treat diarrhea in infants, toddlers, and children under 12 years of age by using a beneficial gut bacterium to fight harmful microorganisms and strengthen the intestinal lining.

How to Use

Dosage

Children under 1 year: 1 ml once daily. Children 1-3 years: 1 ml twice daily. Children 3-12 years: 1 ml three times daily.

Method

Tear off an ampoule, shake well, and twist open the cap. For infants, give directly into the mouth before breastfeeding. For toddlers and older children, give after a meal.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 3 ml.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Gastrointestinal problems such as flatulence, stomach pain, and vomiting.
  • Hives and allergic reactions.
  • In very rare cases, blood poisoning (sepsis) has been seen in very premature babies (under 1000g).

Important Warnings

  • Do not give Mutaflor if your child is allergic to E. coli Nissle 1917 or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Diarrhea can cause dehydration; ensure your child drinks enough fluids and gets electrolytes during treatment.
  • Certain antibiotics and sulfonamides may reduce the effectiveness of Mutaflor.
