How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 500 micrograms. Do not increase the dose yourself; consult your doctor for any dose adjustments.

Method

Wash your hands, urinate, then slowly insert the applicator into your urethra. Press the button to release the medicine, gently move the applicator to ensure release, then remove it. After applying, gently roll your penis for 10 seconds to help the medicine spread.

Important

Do not use more than two doses in a 24-hour period, or more than seven doses per week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Burning sensation in the urethra
  • Pain in the penis
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Muscle cramps
  • Low blood pressure
  • Slight bleeding from the urethra
  • Testicular pain
  • Burning or itching sensation in partner's vagina
  • Bruises on the penis
  • Increased erection
  • Peyronie's disease (a condition causing pain and abnormal curvature, shortening, or narrowing of the penis)
RARE
  • Fainting or feeling faint
  • Reduced or increased sensitivity
  • Swelling of leg veins
  • Leg pain
  • Cold symptoms
  • Pain in the perineum (area between penis and anus)
  • Increased heart rate
  • Widening of blood vessels and drop in blood pressure, causing dizziness
  • Blood vessel problems, such as venous bleeding
  • Nausea
  • Skin rash that may be itchy or red
  • Increased sweating
  • Increased or more frequent urge to urinate
  • Pain or difficulty urinating
  • Blood in urine
  • Increased creatinine levels in blood
  • Priapism (prolonged erection)
  • Redness, swelling, or pain in testicles or scrotum, or lumps (spermatocele/sperm-filled cysts)
  • Numbness in the penis
  • Uncomfortable or painful erections, or no erection
  • Changes in ejaculation
  • Swelling or narrowing of the foreskin and/or glans
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Penile conditions leading to scarring, bending, or kinking of the penis, especially with long-term Muse use
  • Red or white itchy patches (hives)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Muse if you are allergic to alprostadil or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use Muse if your penis has an abnormal shape, such as being bent or severely curved.
  • Do not use Muse if you have a penis disease like Peyronie's disease.
  • Do not use Muse if you have an inflammation or infection in your penis or urethra.
  • Do not use Muse if you have blood disorders such as sickle cell anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma, thrombocythemia, or polycythemia.

  • Do not use Muse if you are at risk of blood clots (venous thrombosis).
  • Do not use Muse if you have had prolonged erections lasting more than four hours before.
  • Do not use Muse if you have been advised to avoid sex due to health reasons, such as heart problems or a recent stroke.
  • Consult your doctor if you have a bleeding disorder, as incorrect use of Muse can cause bleeding in the urethra.
  • Consult your doctor if you have a blood-borne disease, as Muse could spread it to your partner.
  • Consult your doctor if you have a heart or lung condition, or chest symptoms, and be careful during sexual activity.
  • Consult your doctor if you have a history of mental illness or addiction.
  • Consult your doctor if you have had a transient ischemic attack (TIA).
  • Consult your doctor if you have a penile implant.
  • Consult your doctor if your erections last 4 hours or longer.
  • Muse does not protect you or your partner from sexually transmitted diseases; always use a condom.
  • If your partner is or could be pregnant, do not use Muse without a condom. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if your partner is breastfeeding.
  • Muse may cause dizziness or fainting. Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy or faint.
