How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 500 micrograms. If this dose is not enough, your doctor can increase it.

Method

Muse is inserted into the urethra using a single-use applicator. Follow your doctor's instructions. After use, it is important to sit, stand, or walk for about 10 minutes to help the erection develop.

Important

Do not use more than two doses in a 24-hour period, or more than seven doses per week.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Burning sensation in the urethra
  • Pain in the penis
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Muscle cramps
  • Low blood pressure
  • Slight bleeding from the urethra
  • Pain in the testicles
  • Burning or itching sensation in partner's vagina
  • Bruising on the penis
  • Increased erection
  • Bending or shortening of the penis
RARE
  • Fainting or feeling dizzy
  • Changes in sensitivity (feeling less or more sensitive) in the penis or perineum area (between penis and anus)
  • Swollen veins in the legs or leg pain
  • Cold symptoms
  • Increased heart rate
  • Drop in blood pressure, which may cause dizziness
  • Nausea (feeling sick to your stomach)
  • Skin rash that may be itchy or red, or increased sweating
  • Increased or frequent urge to urinate, painful or difficult urination, or blood in the urine
  • Prolonged erection (priapism) lasting longer than normal
  • Redness, swelling, pain, or lumps in the testicles or scrotum, or a numb feeling in the penis
  • Erections that are uncomfortable or painful, or not getting an erection at all
  • Changes in ejaculation, or swelling or tightness of the foreskin or glans
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Scarring, bending, or kinking of the penis, especially with long-term use
  • Red or white itchy patches (hives)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Muse if you are allergic to alprostadil or any other ingredients.
  • Do not use Muse if your penis has an abnormal shape, such as a curve or severe bend, or if you have Peyronie's disease.
  • Do not use Muse if you have an inflammation or infection in your penis or urethra.
  • Do not use Muse if you have certain blood disorders like sickle cell anemia, leukemia, multiple myeloma, thrombocythemia, or polycythemia, or if you are prone to blood clots.
  • Do not use Muse if you have previously had prolonged erections (priapism) lasting 4 hours or more.

  • Do not use Muse if your doctor has told you to avoid sex for health reasons, such as heart problems or a recent stroke.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Muse if you have a bleeding disorder, as incorrect use can cause bleeding in the urethra.
  • Muse does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Always use a condom to prevent STIs.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Muse if you have heart or lung conditions, or chest symptoms.
  • Talk to your doctor before using Muse if you have a mental health condition, a history of mini-stroke (TIA), or a penis implant.
  • Tell your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including over-the-counter and herbal remedies, as they may interact with Muse.
