How to Use

Dosage

The recommended dose for a liver MRI is 0.1 ml per kilogram of body weight.

Method

This medicine is injected into a vein, usually in your arm, just before your MRI scan. You should stay in the hospital area for one hour after the injection.

Important

You will only receive one dose of MultiHance per examination. You should not receive another injection for at least 7 days.

  • Changes in blood pressure or heart rhythm
  • Flushing (redness)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Dry mouth
  • Skin reactions like itching, rash, or hives
  • Reactions at the injection site (e.g., pain, burning, warmth, cold, redness, discomfort, swelling, blisters)
  • Fever
  • Abnormal lab test results (for heart, liver, blood, or urine)
  • Severe allergic reactions (e.g., with breathing difficulties, dizziness, or fainting)
  • Tremors or seizures
  • Reduced sensitivity to touch or pain
  • Vision problems
  • Heart problems (e.g., chest pain, slow heart rate, heart attack, or stopped heart, sometimes with bluish skin)
  • Lung problems (e.g., fluid in the lungs, shortness of breath, wheezing, throat spasm, nasal irritation, or cough)
  • Increased saliva
  • Abdominal pain
  • Swelling of the face or mouth
  • Sweating
  • Muscle pain
  • Feeling weak, chills, or general discomfort
  • Loss of consciousness
  • Eye inflammation
  • Vein inflammation (due to blood clots)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use MultiHance if you are allergic to gadobenic acid or any other ingredients in the medicine, or if you have had an allergic reaction to another MRI contrast agent before.
  • MultiHance should not be given to children under 2 years old.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, high blood pressure, epilepsy, a brain injury, a pacemaker, metal in your body (like screws), kidney problems, or if you have recently had or are about to have a liver transplant.
  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as MultiHance should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary.
  • Discuss breastfeeding with your doctor; you might need to stop breastfeeding for 24 hours after receiving MultiHance.
