Movicol Plain is a laxative powder used to treat constipation and very severe constipation in adults and adolescents over 12 years old, helping to restore comfortable bowel function.

How to Use
Dosage
For regular constipation, take 1 sachet 1 to 3 times a day. For very severe constipation (fecal impaction), you may need 8 sachets per day, taken within 6 hours.
Method
Open the sachet and pour the powder into half a glass (about 125 ml) of water. Stir until the powder is fully dissolved, then drink the solution.
Important
Do not take more than 8 sachets in one day (for severe constipation, taken within 6 hours).
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Stomach pain or rumbling
- •Bloating or gas
- •Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
- •Discomfort around the back passage
- •Mild diarrhoea
RARE
- •Allergic reactions (like rash, itching, red skin, hives, swelling of hands, feet, or ankles)
- •Headache
- •Low or high levels of potassium in your blood
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you have a bowel blockage, a hole in your bowel wall, severe inflammatory bowel disease (like ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or toxic megacolon), or are allergic to any ingredients.
- Keep drinking plenty of fluids while using this medicine; the fluid in Movicol Plain does not replace your normal fluid intake.
- This medicine might make some other medicines, like those for epilepsy, work less well.
- Do not take other oral medicines one hour before, with, or one hour after taking Movicol Plain.
- If you need to thicken liquids to swallow safely, be aware that Movicol Plain might prevent the thickener from working.

- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you take 3 or more sachets daily for a long time, especially if you are on a low-salt diet, due to the sodium content.
- Stop taking this medicine and get medical help right away if you have a serious allergic reaction, such as trouble breathing, dizziness, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
- If you have heart problems and are taking this medicine for severe constipation, do not take more than 2 sachets per hour.
