How to Use

Dosage

For long-term constipation, children 2-6 years typically start with 1 sachet per day, and children 7-11 years start with 2 sachets per day; your doctor may adjust the dose.

Method

Mix the contents of one sachet with 62.5 ml (about a quarter glass) of water until dissolved, then give the solution to your child to drink.

Important

For long-term constipation, the maximum daily dose is usually 4 sachets, but always follow your doctor's specific instructions, especially for severe constipation (faecal impaction) where higher doses may be prescribed under medical supervision.

Important Warnings

  • Stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor immediately if your child has a severe allergic reaction, which causes difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
  • Do not give Movicol Junior Chocolate if your child has a blocked bowel, a hole in the bowel wall, severe inflammatory bowel disease (like ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease), or is allergic to any of the ingredients.
  • Other oral medicines should not be taken one hour before, at the same time as, or one hour after Movicol Junior Chocolate, as it may affect how they work.
  • Continue to drink plenty of fluids while using this medicine; the fluid in Movicol Junior Chocolate does not replace your child's normal fluid intake.
  • Movicol Junior Chocolate contains benzyl alcohol, which can cause allergic reactions. Do not use for more than one week in children under 3 years unless advised by a doctor, especially if your child has liver or kidney disease.
