How to Use

Dosage

One 4 mg chewable tablet once a day.

Method

Chew the tablet before swallowing. Take it in the evening, at least one hour before or two hours after food.

Important

Do not take more than one tablet per day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Upper respiratory tract infection (e.g., common cold)
  • Stomach ache
  • Thirst
  • Headache
  • Diarrhea, feeling sick (nausea), throwing up (vomiting)
  • Skin rash
  • Fever
  • Higher levels of liver enzymes (shown in blood tests)
RARE
  • Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which can cause trouble breathing or swallowing
  • Mood and behavior changes, such as unusual dreams (including nightmares), trouble sleeping, sleepwalking, feeling irritable, anxious, or restless
  • More severe mood and behavior changes like aggression, depression, hallucinations, confusion, suicidal thoughts or actions, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, or stuttering
  • Seizures (fits)
  • Dizziness, feeling sleepy, tingling or numbness in parts of the body
  • Nosebleeds
  • Dry mouth, indigestion
  • Bruising, itching, hives (itchy rash)
  • Joint or muscle pain, muscle cramps
  • Bedwetting in children
  • Feeling weak or tired, general feeling of being unwell, swelling
  • Increased tendency to bleed
  • Tremor (shaking)
  • Palpitations (fast or irregular heartbeat)
  • Low blood platelet count (can lead to easy bruising or bleeding)
  • Inflammation in the lungs
  • Severe skin reactions, like a widespread red rash with bumps (erythema multiforme)
  • Liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • Tender red lumps under the skin, usually on the shins (erythema nodosum)
  • Trouble focusing, memory problems, involuntary muscle movements

Important Warnings

  • If your child's asthma gets worse or they have trouble breathing, tell the doctor right away.
  • This medicine is not for sudden asthma attacks. Always keep your child's quick-relief inhaler with them for asthma attacks.
  • It is important for your child to take all prescribed asthma medicines. This medicine should not replace other asthma medications.
  • This medicine can cause changes in mood or behavior, such as anxiety, aggression, depression, or suicidal thoughts. Contact a doctor if you notice any such symptoms.
  • Contact a doctor if your child has flu-like symptoms, tingling or numbness in arms or legs, worsening lung problems, or a rash while taking asthma medication.

  • Do not give your child aspirin or anti-inflammatory painkillers (like ibuprofen) if they make their asthma worse.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 2 years of age.
