How to Use

Dosage

One 10 mg tablet once a day, in the evening.

Method

Swallow the tablet by mouth. You can take it with or without food. Take it every day, even when you have no symptoms or during an asthma attack.

Important

Do not take more than one 10 mg tablet per day.

COMMON
  • Stomach pain
  • Headache
  • Upper respiratory infection
  • Diarrhea

  • Increased liver enzymes
RARE
  • Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty breathing or swallowing
  • Changes in behavior and mood, such as anxiety, aggression, depression, thoughts of self-harm, confusion, sleep problems (including nightmares, sleepwalking), irritability, or restlessness
  • Seizures
  • Increased bleeding or bruising
  • Tremors or involuntary muscle twitching
  • Heart palpitations
  • Flu-like symptoms, tingling or numbness in arms and legs, worsening lung symptoms, and/or rash (Churg-Strauss syndrome)
  • Low platelet count
  • Lung inflammation
  • Severe skin reactions or red lumps under the skin (erythema nodosum)
  • Liver inflammation
  • Dizziness or drowsiness
  • Nosebleeds
  • Dry mouth or indigestion
  • Itching or hives
  • Joint or muscle pain, muscle cramps
  • Bedwetting in children
  • Weakness, tiredness, general unwellness, or swelling
  • Difficulty concentrating or memory loss
  • Obsessive-compulsive symptoms or stuttering

Important Warnings

  • Tell your doctor right away if your asthma gets worse or if you have trouble breathing.
  • This medicine is not for sudden asthma attacks. Always use your rescue inhaler for an asthma attack.
  • Keep taking all your other asthma medicines as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop or replace them with this medicine.
  • Contact your doctor if you get flu-like symptoms, tingling or numbness in your arms or legs, worsening lung symptoms, or a rash.
  • Do not use aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain relievers if they make your asthma worse.

  • This medicine is not for children under 15 years old.
  • If you take too much of this medicine, contact a doctor right away.
  • Do not use if you are allergic to montelukast or any other ingredient in this medicine.
