How to Use

Dosage

The typical dose is 7.5 mg (half a tablet) once a day, which can be increased to 15 mg (one tablet) once daily for some conditions, or reduced to 7.5 mg for older patients or those with higher risk of side effects.

Method

Take the tablets orally with water or another drink, preferably with food. The tablet can be divided into equal halves by hand.

Important

Do not exceed a maximum daily dose of 15 mg (one 15 mg tablet).

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Stomach upset (indigestion)
  • Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
  • Stomach pain
  • Constipation
  • Gas (flatulence)
  • Diarrhea
RARE
  • Dizziness, confusion, or feeling sleepy
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Swelling of body parts due to fluid retention (e.g., swollen ankles, legs), or high blood pressure
  • Severe skin reactions with blistering, peeling, or rash (including sunburn-like rash), or sudden swelling of face, lips, or throat (angioedema)
  • Internal bleeding (black stools, vomiting blood), ulcers or holes in the stomach/intestine
  • Liver problems (yellow skin/eyes, stomach pain), kidney problems (trouble urinating, swelling)
  • Heart problems (fast heartbeat, heart failure), asthma attacks

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Mobic if you are allergic to meloxicam or any other ingredients in the medicine.
  • Do not use Mobic during the last three months of pregnancy, if you are breastfeeding, or if you are under 16 years old.
  • Stop taking Mobic immediately and contact a doctor if you notice bleeding in your stomach or intestines (black stools, stomach pain).
  • Stop Mobic and get medical help right away if you develop serious skin reactions like itching, blistering, or peeling skin (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome).
  • Do not take Mobic if you have previously had asthma attacks, nasal polyps, or severe skin reactions (like hives or swelling) after taking aspirin or other NSAID pain relievers.

  • Using Mobic may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with high doses or long-term use. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • If you experience blurry vision, dizziness, or drowsiness, do not drive or operate machinery.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
