How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use and how often.

Method

A nurse or doctor will put this medicine directly into your bladder.

Important

Your doctor will decide the maximum amount you can have each day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Skin rash, allergic rash, or skin irritation
  • Numbness, swelling, and painful red skin on your palms and soles
  • Bladder swelling (cystitis), which might include blood in your urine or bladder bleeding
  • Pain when you pee, needing to pee often, sometimes at night
  • Blood in your urine
  • Local irritation of the bladder lining
RARE
  • Widespread skin rash
  • Severe bladder inflammation, possibly with dead tissue in parts of the bladder wall
  • Narrowing of the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder (ureter stenosis)
  • Bladder becoming smaller (decreased bladder capacity)
  • Hardening of the bladder wall (calcification, fibrosis)
  • Tear in the bladder wall (bladder perforation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to mitomycin or any of its ingredients.
  • Do not use if you are breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if there is a hole in your bladder wall.
  • Tell your doctor if you have problems with your lungs, liver, or kidneys.
  • Tell your doctor if you are not feeling well overall.

  • Tell your doctor if you are getting radiation therapy.
  • Tell your doctor if you are taking other cancer medicines.
  • Tell your doctor if you have bladder swelling or infection (cystitis).
  • Tell your doctor if you have bone marrow problems (when your body can't make enough blood cells).
  • This medicine can affect your ability to have children in the future. Talk to your doctor about family planning.
  • The medicine must be put into your bladder very carefully to avoid tearing the bladder wall.
  • Do not get any vaccines during this treatment, especially vaccines with live germs.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant.
  • This medicine can make you feel sick and throw up, which might make it unsafe to drive or use machines. Alcohol can make this worse.
