How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 15 mg or 30 mg once daily, and your doctor may adjust it to a dose between 15 mg and 45 mg per day.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth at the same time each day, preferably in the evening before bed. Do not crush the tablet; place it on your tongue, and it will dissolve quickly without water.

Important

The maximum daily dose is usually 45 mg, but your doctor may adjust it based on your age or kidney/liver health.

  • Unusual skin sensations like burning, tingling or prickling
  • Restless legs
  • Fainting
  • Numbness in the mouth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nightmares
  • Agitation
  • Hallucinations
  • Strong urge to move
  • Infection symptoms (high fever, sore throat, mouth sores)
  • Epileptic seizure (convulsion)
  • Serotonin syndrome (symptoms like unexplained fever, sweating, fast heart rate, muscle twitches, confusion)
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., target-like red spots, peeling skin, blisters, fever, swollen lymph nodes)
  • Unusual sensations in the mouth
  • Swelling of the mouth
  • Whole body swelling (generalized edema)
  • Local swelling
  • Low blood sodium (hyponatremia)
  • Inappropriate secretion of antidiuretic hormone
  • Sleepwalking
  • Speech disorder
  • Increased blood creatine kinase levels
  • Difficulty urinating (urinary retention)
  • Muscle pain, stiffness, weakness, or dark urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Increased prolactin levels (can cause breast growth and milk production)
  • Prolonged, painful erection of the penis
  • Significant weight gain (observed in children and adolescents)
  • Hives (urticaria) (observed in children and adolescents)
  • Increased blood triglyceride levels (observed in children and adolescents)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to mirtazapine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have taken MAO inhibitors (a type of antidepressant) in the last two weeks.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of severe skin rash, skin peeling, blistering, or mouth sores.
  • This medicine is generally not for people under 18 years old due to potential side effects like suicidal thoughts or hostile behavior.
  • If you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, contact your doctor or emergency services immediately.

  • If you have epilepsy and experience seizures more often, stop the medicine and contact your doctor right away.
  • If you develop yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have schizophrenia and your psychotic symptoms worsen or become more frequent, contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you have bipolar disorder and feel overly excited or agitated (mania), stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • If you develop signs of infection like high fever, sore throat, or mouth sores, stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately for blood tests.
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical help if you get severe skin reactions like red target-like spots, peeling skin, blisters, or fever.
  • Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly without talking to your doctor, as this can cause withdrawal symptoms or relapse of depression.
