How to Use
Dosage
The recommended starting dose is 15 or 30 mg per day, which your doctor may adjust to between 15 and 45 mg per day.
Method
Take the tablet by mouth, swallow whole with water or juice. It's best to take your dose as a single dose before bedtime, or your doctor might suggest splitting the dose.
Important
Maximum of 45 mg per day, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.
Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Increased appetite and weight gain
- •Drowsiness or sleepiness
- •Headache
- •Dry mouth
- •Dizziness
- •Tremors or shaking
- •Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation
- •Skin rash or eruptions
- •Joint or muscle pain, back pain
- •Dizziness or fainting when standing up too quickly
- •Swelling (fluid retention), especially in ankles or feet
- •Vivid dreams
- •Confusion
- •Anxiety
- •Sleep problems (difficulty sleeping)
- •Memory problems, which usually improve after stopping the medicine
RARE
- •Abnormal skin sensations like burning, stinging, tingling or itching
- •Restless legs
- •Fainting
- •Numbness in the mouth
- •Low blood pressure
- •Nightmares
- •Hallucinations
- •Excessive mood elevation (mania)
- •Muscle twitching or contractions
- •Aggressiveness
- •Abdominal pain and nausea; may be a sign of pancreas inflammation
- •Yellowing of the eyes or skin (jaundice); may be a sign of liver problems
Important Warnings
- Do not take Mirtazapin Orion if you are allergic to mirtazapine or any other ingredients in this medicine.
- Do not take this medicine with other certain medicines called MAO inhibitors (MAOIs) or within two weeks of stopping them.
- Tell your doctor if you have had a severe rash, skin peeling, blistering, or mouth sores after taking Mirtazapin Orion.
- If you have thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor or go to a hospital immediately. These thoughts can increase when starting treatment.
- Do not drink alcohol while taking Mirtazapin Orion as it can make you feel more drowsy.
