How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 15-30 mg per day. Your doctor may increase your dose depending on your age or if you have liver or kidney problems.

Method

Take the tablets at the same time each day. It's usually best to take one dose just before bedtime. Your doctor might also suggest splitting your dose into a morning and evening dose. Swallow the tablets whole with water or juice.

Important

Your doctor may adjust your dose up to a maximum of 45 mg per day.

RARE
  • Feeling of high or too much energy (mania)
  • Yellowing of eyes or skin (jaundice), which may be a sign of liver problems
  • Signs of infection (e.g., unexplained high fever, sore throat, and mouth sores)
  • Seizures or fits (epileptic attacks)
  • Serotonin syndrome (e.g., unexplained fever, sweating, fast heart rate, diarrhea, uncontrollable muscle twitches, confusion)
  • Thoughts of harming yourself or suicide
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., red spots, blisters, skin peeling, sores in mouth/eyes/genitals)
  • Unusual skin sensations (e.g., burning, tingling, prickling)
  • Restless legs
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Numbness in the mouth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nightmares
  • Hallucinations
  • Strong urge to move (akathisia)
  • Muscle twitching or spasms (myoclonus)
  • Aggressiveness
  • Abdominal pain and nausea, which may indicate inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • Swelling in the mouth or widespread body swelling
  • Sleepwalking
  • Speech disorder
  • Difficulty emptying the bladder
  • Muscle pain, stiffness, or weakness, with dark or discolored urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Painful, prolonged erection

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Mirtazapin Krka if you are allergic to mirtazapine or any other ingredient in this medicine. Also, do not use it if you have taken or are taking MAOIs (antidepressant medicines) within the last two weeks.
  • Tell your doctor immediately if you develop a severe rash, skin peeling, blisters, or sores in your mouth, throat, nose, genitals, or eyes. Stop taking the medicine and seek medical attention.
  • If you are depressed and start having thoughts of harming yourself or suicide, contact your doctor or go to a hospital immediately. These thoughts can start at the beginning of treatment.
  • Drinking alcohol while on Mirtazapin Krka treatment can make you drowsy. You should avoid alcohol.
  • This medicine can affect your concentration. Make sure you can drive or operate machinery safely.
