How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 15 or 30 mg per day. Your doctor may increase it to a dose that works best for you, typically between 15 and 45 mg daily.

Method

Take your tablet by mouth at the same time each day, preferably as a single dose just before bedtime. You can take it with or without food, swallowed whole with water or juice.

Important

The maximum daily dose is typically 45 mg, but your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

  • Increased appetite and weight gain
  • Tiredness, sleepiness
  • Headache
  • Dry mouth

  • Shaking or tremors

  • Back pain
  • Feeling dizzy or fainting when standing up quickly (orthostatic hypotension)
  • Swelling (especially in ankles or feet) due to fluid retention
  • Vivid dreams
  • Confusion
  • Anxiety
  • Sleep problems
  • Memory problems (usually went away after stopping the medicine)
RARE
  • Abnormal skin sensations (e.g., burning, stinging, tingling)
  • Restless legs
  • Fainting
  • Numbness in the mouth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nightmares
  • Feeling agitated with a strong need to move
  • Hallucinations
  • Muscle twitching or contractions
  • Aggression
  • Abdominal pain and nausea (which may indicate pancreatitis)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Mirtazapin Hexal if you are allergic to mirtazapine or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use Mirtazapin Hexal if you are currently taking or have recently taken (in the last two weeks) certain medicines called MAO inhibitors.
  • Stop taking Mirtazapin Hexal and contact your doctor immediately if you experience severe skin reactions like red spots, blistering, or peeling skin, especially if accompanied by fever (Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, DRESS).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience a combination of symptoms like unexplained fever, sweating, fast heart rate, diarrhea, muscle twitching, restlessness, mood changes, or confusion (serotonin syndrome).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop signs of infection such as high fever, sore throat, or mouth sores.
