How to Use

Dosage

The starting dose is usually 15 or 30 mg per day, and your doctor may increase it to 15–45 mg per day.

Method

Take this medicine at the same time each day, usually as a single dose right before bedtime, or your doctor may suggest splitting the dose into morning and evening, with the larger dose before bedtime. Swallow the tablet whole with water or juice, with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 45 mg.

  • Confusion
  • Anxiety
  • Insomnia
  • Memory problems (usually went away after stopping treatment)
RARE
  • Excessively high mood (mania)
  • Abnormal skin sensations (e.g., burning, stinging, itching, or tingling)
  • Restless legs
  • Fainting
  • Numb mouth
  • Low blood pressure
  • Nightmares
  • Anxiety with a strong urge to move
  • Hallucinations
  • Strong urge to move
  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin (sign of liver problem, jaundice)
  • Muscle twitches or contractions
  • Aggression
  • Stomach pain and nausea (may be a symptom of pancreatitis)
  • Signs of infection (e.g., sudden high fever, sore throat, mouth sores) due to blood cell issues
  • Epileptic seizures
  • Serotonin syndrome (a group of symptoms like unexplained fever, sweating, fast heart rate, diarrhea, muscle spasms, mood changes, and unconsciousness)
  • Thoughts of self-harm or suicide
  • Severe skin reactions (e.g., red spots on the body like targets, peeling skin, sores in mouth, throat, nose, genitals, and eyes – Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis; widespread rash, high fever, enlarged lymph nodes – DRESS syndrome)
  • Abnormal sensations in the mouth (oral paresthesia)
  • Mouth swelling (oral edema)
  • Whole body swelling (generalized edema)
  • Local swelling
  • Low sodium in blood (hyponatremia)
  • Inappropriate antidiuretic hormone secretion
  • Sleepwalking
  • Speech problems
  • Increased blood creatine kinase levels
  • Difficulty passing urine (urinary retention)
  • Muscle pain, stiffness and/or weakness, and dark or discolored urine (rhabdomyolysis)
  • Unusually high prolactin levels in blood (hyperprolactinemia, including breast milk production and enlarged breasts in men)
  • Prolonged painful erection of the penis

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to mirtazapine or its ingredients, or if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors within the last two weeks.
  • If you have had severe skin reactions (like rash, blistering, or peeling skin) with Mirtazapin Hexal, stop use and see a doctor right away.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, especially if you are under 25 years old.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have or have had seizures, liver or kidney disease, heart disease, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, diabetes, high eye pressure (glaucoma), or difficulty urinating.
  • If you get signs of infection (like unexplained fever, sore throat, or mouth sores), stop Mirtazapin Hexal and contact your doctor immediately for blood tests.

  • Talk to your doctor before use if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant.
  • Be careful when driving or using machines, as this medicine can make you less alert.
