How to Use

Dosage

The usual dose is 275-550 mg twice a day. For menstrual pain or migraine, take 550 mg when symptoms start.

Method

You can take Miranax with or without food. Taking it with food may make it work slower.

Important

Do not take more than 1375 mg in a single day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Heartburn, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation.
  • Bleeding or ulcers in the stomach or intestines.
  • Bruising, itching, red skin spots, sudden rashes, allergic rashes, or sweating.
  • Insomnia, dizziness, headache, or feeling lightheaded.
  • Vision problems, hearing loss, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), or vertigo.
RARE
  • Holes in the digestive tract, vomiting blood, blood in stool, mouth inflammation, worsening of inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis).
  • High potassium levels in blood, changes in blood cell counts (e.g., severe lack of white blood cells, anemia, low platelets).
  • Depression, unusual dreams, nerve inflammation behind the eye, seizures, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, aseptic meningitis, fever, chills, drowsiness.
  • Palpitations, fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema), heart failure, blood clots (e.g., heart attack, stroke), high blood pressure, inflammation of blood vessels.
  • Severe liver inflammation, jaundice, abnormal liver tests, kidney problems (e.g., kidney failure, blood in urine, inflammation), pancreatitis, salivary gland inflammation.
  • Asthma, severe allergic reactions (like swelling of the face/throat, difficulty breathing), severe skin reactions with blisters or peeling (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, lupus-like rash, fixed drug eruption), hair loss, sensitivity to light, muscle pain, muscle weakness.
  • Female infertility, menstrual problems, thirst, feeling unwell.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to naproxen sodium or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take if you have previously had an allergic reaction (like asthma, runny nose, or rash) to aspirin or similar pain relievers.
  • Do not take if you have or have had stomach or duodenal ulcers, or bleeding in your digestive system.
  • Do not take if you have severe heart failure.
  • Do not take if you are in the last three months of pregnancy.

  • If you get severe skin reactions, such as a rash, blisters, or peeling skin, stop taking Miranax and contact a doctor immediately.
  • Using Miranax may slightly increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with high doses and long-term use. Do not exceed the recommended dose or treatment duration.
  • Miranax should not be given to children under 5 years old.
  • Do not use multiple pain relievers at the same time unless your doctor tells you to.
  • Miranax passes into breast milk, so it is not recommended during breastfeeding.
  • This medicine may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery. Be careful until you know how it affects you.

Use in Elderly Patients

Category C

Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. For short-term use only. Consider adverse renal effect in chronic kidney disease. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Increases swelling, worsens renal and heart failure and causes cardiovascular events. Increases risk of bleeding, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. Consider potential interactions especially with preparations that increase risk of bleeding. (updated 16.9.2024)
