How to Use

Dosage

One tablet.

Method

Swallow one tablet whole with water as soon as the migraine headache starts.

Important

Do not exceed 5 mg (two tablets) in 24 hours.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea, dry mouth, indigestion, stomach pain
  • Fatigue, discomfort in the chest (lightness, pressure, or tightness in the chest)
  • Headache, dizziness, tingling sensation (especially in hands and feet), reduced or altered sense of touch, extreme tiredness
  • Hot flashes
  • Feeling of tightness in the throat
  • Vision problems
  • Increased sweating
RARE
  • Changes in taste, trembling, difficulty concentrating, drowsiness, increased touch sensitivity, sleepiness, involuntary muscle contractions
  • Diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, gas, stomach upsets, abdominal distension
  • Awareness of heartbeat (palpitations), rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, chest pain (strong pressure or tightness in the chest)
  • Feeling hot, reduced tolerance to heat and cold, pain, weakness, thirst, slow movements, increased energy, general feeling of illness, lightheadedness
  • Anxiety, insomnia, confusion, nervousness, restlessness, depression, feeling unreal or detached from oneself
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Nasal irritation, sinusitis, sore throat and/or larynx
  • Muscle stiffness, muscle and bone pain, leg and arm pain, back pain, tender joints
  • Eye pain, eye irritation, painful sensitivity to light
  • Itching
  • Ringing in the ears, ear pain
  • Dehydration
  • Frequent urination, increased urine output
  • Muscle cramps, weak muscles, reduced reflexes, movement disorders
  • Constipation, burping, heartburn, irritable bowel, lip blisters, lip pain, esophageal spasm, mouth blisters, stomach ulcer or ulcer in the upper small intestine, salivary gland pain, mouth inflammation, toothache
  • Fever
  • Memory loss, unusual dreams, personality changes
  • Nosebleeds, hiccups, increased breathing, difficulty breathing, throat irritation
  • Night blindness
  • Skin redness, goosebumps, red spots and patches on skin and mucous membranes, hives
  • Slow heart rate
  • Ear discomfort, ear disease, ear itching, increased sensitivity to sound
  • Increased bilirubin in blood (substance produced by the liver), decreased blood calcium, abnormal urine tests
  • Low blood sugar
  • Frequent nighttime urination, kidney pain
  • Self-inflicted injury (e.g., bite or bruise)
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Breast tenderness

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to frovatriptan or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have had a heart attack or have heart and circulation problems, such as angina (chest pain) or poor circulation in your fingers and toes.
  • Do not use if you have had a stroke or a mini-stroke (TIA).
  • Do not use if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • Do not use if you have severe liver disease.

  • Do not use with other migraine medicines like ergotamine, methysergide, or other triptans (e.g., sumatriptan, zolmitriptan).
  • Stop taking MIGARD and call your doctor immediately if you experience chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, or discomfort in your arms, back, shoulders, neck, jaw, or upper abdomen, as these can be symptoms of a heart attack.
  • Stop taking MIGARD and call your doctor immediately if you develop a widespread rash, itching, sudden swelling (especially of the lips, eyes, or tongue) with breathing difficulties, rapid heartbeat, or palpitations, as these are signs of a severe allergic reaction.
  • MIGARD is not for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Using MIGARD too often can lead to daily headaches. If you get headaches frequently, talk to your doctor, as you might have medication overuse headache.
