How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide the correct dose of Midazolam Medical Valley based on the patient's age.

Method

Administer exactly as instructed by the doctor. The medicine is given into the space between the gum and the inner cheek using a syringe; do not inject. Slowly push the plunger until all the liquid is out.

Important

Give only one dose from a single pre-filled syringe. Do not give more than the doctor has prescribed.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Feeling sleepy or passing out
RARE
  • Skin rash, hives, or itching
  • Feeling agitated, restless, angry, aggressive, confused, overly happy (euphoria), or seeing/hearing things that aren't there (hallucinations)
  • Muscle spasms or tremors (uncontrolled shaking), reduced attention, headache, dizziness, difficulty coordinating movements, seizures (convulsions), temporary memory loss (how long depends on the dose)
  • Low blood pressure, slow heart rate, flushing (redness) of the face and neck, laryngospasm (tightening of vocal cords causing breathing problems and noisy breathing)
  • Constipation, dry mouth, fatigue, hiccups

Important Warnings

  • Do not give this medicine if the patient is allergic to midazolam, other benzodiazepines (like diazepam), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if the patient has a nerve or muscle disease causing weakness (myasthenia gravis), severe breathing problems at rest, repeated breathing pauses during sleep (sleep apnea), or severe liver disease.
  • For children aged 3 months to under 6 months, this medicine should only be used in a hospital with constant monitoring and resuscitation equipment available. Only give this medicine if epilepsy has been diagnosed.
  • Do not drink alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can make the patient very drowsy and increase side effects.
  • This medicine can cause drowsiness, memory loss, and affect concentration. Patients should not drive, cycle, or operate machinery until they have fully recovered.

  • This medicine is for oral use (in the mouth) and should never be injected. Do not attach a needle to the syringe.
  • Seek immediate medical help or call an ambulance if the seizure does not stop within 10 minutes, or if the patient has severe breathing difficulties (slow, shallow breathing, blue lips, or stops breathing), signs of a heart attack (chest pain spreading to neck/shoulders/arm), signs of a severe allergic reaction (swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, difficulty swallowing/breathing, pale skin, weak/rapid pulse, feeling faint), or signs of overdose (extreme drowsiness, confusion, very low blood pressure, coma).
