Dosage

The dose of Midazolam Accordpharma varies between patients and is determined by your doctor based on your age, weight, and general health.

Method

The medicine is administered as a slow injection into a vein, an infusion into a vein via a tube, an injection into a muscle, or rectally.

Possible Side Effects

RARE
  • Severe allergic reaction, such as sudden rash, itching, facial swelling, or difficulty breathing (anaphylactic shock).
  • Heart attack, which may cause chest pain spreading to the neck and arm (cardiac arrest).
  • Severe breathing difficulties, potentially leading to breathing cessation.
  • Choking and sudden spasm of the larynx (laryngospasm).
  • Unexpected (paradoxical) reactions such as restlessness, agitation, irritability, involuntary movements, hyperactivity, nervousness, hostility, delusions, anger, aggressiveness, anxiety, nightmares, hallucinations, psychoses, and inappropriate behavior. These are more common in children and the elderly, or with high/fast doses.
COMMON
  • Impaired attention.
  • Feeling of confusion.
  • Strong feelings of happiness or excitement (euphoria).
  • Changes in sex drive.
  • Prolonged feeling of tiredness, sleepiness or sedation.
  • Headache.
  • Feeling dizzy.
  • Difficulty coordinating muscle movements.
  • Seizures (convulsions) in premature and newborn babies.
  • Temporary memory loss.
  • Withdrawal symptoms, which may include mood swings, seizures, headache, diarrhea, muscle pain, sleep difficulties, anxiety, restlessness, confusion, irritability, or hallucinations, especially if used for a long time.
  • Fainting.
  • Slow heart rate.
  • Redness of face and neck (flushing).
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Hiccups.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Dry mouth.
  • Constipation.
  • Nausea or vomiting.
  • Itching sensation.
  • Rash, including raised rashes (hives).
  • Redness, pain, blood clots, or swelling of the skin at the injection site.
  • Allergic reactions, including rash and wheezing (milder form).
  • Falls and bone fractures (more likely in elderly persons over 60 years old).

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to midazolam, other benzodiazepines, or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems and are given Midazolam Accordpharma while conscious.
  • Inform your doctor if you are over 60 years old, as you may require closer monitoring.
  • Inform your doctor if you have chronic diseases, such as respiratory, kidney, liver, or heart conditions.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a muscle weakness condition called myasthenia gravis.

  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of alcohol or drug problems.
  • Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, suspect you are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. Do not breastfeed for 24 hours after the dose.
  • Do not consume alcohol while using this medicine, as it can significantly enhance its effects and cause breathing difficulties.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery until your doctor gives you permission, as this medicine may cause drowsiness and impair concentration.
