Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Abnormal blood tests (low white blood cells, low red blood cells)
  • Low potassium, magnesium, or calcium levels in the blood
  • Headache
  • Vein inflammation at the injection site
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
  • Abnormal liver test results or high bilirubin levels in the blood
  • Rash or fever and chills
RARE
  • Very low blood cell counts (including platelets) or allergic reactions
  • Changes in blood pressure or heart rate, or shortness of breath
  • Trouble sleeping, anxiety, confusion, or dizziness
  • Liver damage, including severe cases that can lead to death
  • Sudden, severe kidney failure or anemia from red blood cell breakdown

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to micafungin, other similar medicines (echinocandins), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or have had abnormal liver tests, as your liver function will be monitored closely.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your kidney function will be monitored more closely.
  • Tell your doctor if you have anemia caused by red blood cell breakdown.
  • This medicine can cause severe skin reactions like rashes and blisters; tell your doctor immediately if these occur.
