Possible Side Effects
COMMON
- •Abnormal blood tests (low white blood cells, low red blood cells)
- •Low potassium, magnesium, or calcium levels in the blood
- •Headache
- •Vein inflammation at the injection site
- •Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain
- •Abnormal liver test results or high bilirubin levels in the blood
- •Rash or fever and chills
RARE
- •Very low blood cell counts (including platelets) or allergic reactions
- •Changes in blood pressure or heart rate, or shortness of breath
- •Trouble sleeping, anxiety, confusion, or dizziness
- •Liver damage, including severe cases that can lead to death
- •Sudden, severe kidney failure or anemia from red blood cell breakdown
Important Warnings
- Do not use if you are allergic to micafungin, other similar medicines (echinocandins), or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or have had abnormal liver tests, as your liver function will be monitored closely.
- Inform your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your kidney function will be monitored more closely.
- Tell your doctor if you have anemia caused by red blood cell breakdown.
- This medicine can cause severe skin reactions like rashes and blisters; tell your doctor immediately if these occur.
