How to Use

Dosage

The dose depends on your weight and condition. Your doctor will decide the right dose for you.

Method

This medicine is given once a day as a slow drip (infusion) into a vein. Only a trained healthcare professional will prepare and give it to you.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Reduced white blood cells (leukopenia; neutropenia) and red blood cells (anemia).
  • Low levels of potassium, magnesium, or calcium in the blood.
  • Headache.
  • Inflammation of the vein at the injection site.
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain.
  • Abnormal liver function tests (e.g., increased alkaline phosphatase, AST, ALT).
  • High bilirubin levels in blood (can cause yellowing of skin or eyes).
  • Skin rash.
  • Fever and chills.
RARE
  • Reduced all blood cells (pancytopenia) or platelets (thrombocytopenia); increased specific white blood cells (eosinophils).
  • Low protein levels in blood (hypoalbuminemia).
  • Allergic reactions, including severe shock.
  • Increased sweating.
  • Low sodium or phosphate, or high potassium in blood.
  • Loss of appetite (anorexia).
  • Trouble sleeping, anxiety, confusion, drowsiness, shaking, dizziness, changes in taste.
  • Fast, strong, or irregular heartbeat; high or low blood pressure; skin redness and warmth.
  • Shortness of breath.
  • Indigestion, constipation, liver failure, jaundice (yellowing), enlarged liver, liver inflammation, reduced bile flow.
  • Itchy rash (hives), itching, general skin redness.
  • Abnormal kidney function tests (e.g., high creatinine or urea), worsening kidney failure, acute kidney failure.
  • Increased levels of an enzyme called lactate dehydrogenase.
  • Blood clots or inflammation in veins at injection site, pain at injection site, fluid retention in the body.
  • Anemia caused by the breakdown of red blood cells (hemolytic anemia).
  • Blood clotting problems.
  • Liver cell damage, possibly fatal.

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to micafungin, other echinocandins (like Ecalta or Cancidas), or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or unusual liver test results, as this medicine may affect your liver. Your liver function will be monitored more closely during treatment.
  • Tell your doctor if you have kidney problems, as your kidneys may need closer monitoring.
  • Tell your doctor if you have hemolytic anemia (a condition where red blood cells are destroyed) or other blood disorders.
  • This medicine can cause severe skin and mucous membrane reactions (like Stevens-Johnson syndrome), including rashes, blistering, or peeling skin.

  • If you feel dizzy, do not drive or use any tools or machines.
