How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will usually start with a low dose, for example 20 mg once a day, and gradually increase it if needed.

Method

Take the medicine once a day with water. You can take it with or without food. Do not take it too late in the morning to avoid sleep problems. Do not chew or crush the capsule. If you cannot swallow the capsule, carefully open it and sprinkle the pellets into a small amount of soft food, like applesauce. Eat the mixture right away.

Important

The maximum daily dose for children and adolescents is 60 mg. For adults, the maximum daily dose is 80 mg.

  • Big changes in blood pressure
  • Numbness, tingling, or color changes in fingers or toes when cold (Raynaud's syndrome)
  • Difficulty speaking or strange speech
  • Sudden high fever or muscle stiffness
  • Slowed weight or height growth (in children)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to methylphenidate or any other ingredients.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child has or has had thyroid problems, heart problems, high blood pressure, high eye pressure (glaucoma), an eating disorder, or a brain blood vessel disease.
  • Tell your doctor if you or your child has or has had serious mental health problems, such as suicidal thoughts, schizophrenia, severe depression, mania, or aggression.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are taking antidepressants called MAO inhibitors or have taken them within the last 14 days.
  • This medicine can cause a positive result in drug tests.

  • Do not drink alcohol with this medicine, as it may worsen side effects.
  • If you experience an erection that lasts longer than 2 hours or is painful, contact a doctor immediately.
  • This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Be careful when driving or operating machinery.
