How to Use
Dosage
The usual starting dose is 10-30 mg per day. The typical daily dose is 60-120 mg.
Method
Take this medicine exactly as your doctor tells you. You must take it by mouth; never inject it, as this can be very harmful or even deadly.

Your doctor will tell you the maximum daily dose. Do not take more than this.

- •Low potassium or magnesium in the blood

Important Warnings
- Do not take if you are allergic to methadone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
- Do not take if you are using or have used certain medicines for depression or Parkinson's disease (MAO inhibitors) in the last two weeks.
- Do not take if you have severe breathing problems.
- This medicine should never be given to children. Keep it in a safe place away from children.
- Talk to your doctor if you have asthma, lung problems, liver or kidney disease, heart problems, thyroid problems, an enlarged prostate, a head injury, or stomach problems.

- Do not drink alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can cause serious side effects or change how the medicine works.
- Do not drive or operate machines until you know how this medicine affects you and your doctor says it is safe.
- Talk to your doctor if you are pregnant, think you might be pregnant, are planning a baby, or are breastfeeding.
- This medicine contains an opioid and can cause addiction. Do not stop taking it suddenly without talking to your doctor, as you may have withdrawal symptoms.
- If you take certain antidepressants and experience agitation, hallucinations, fast heartbeat, fever, muscle stiffness, or digestive issues, contact your doctor immediately.
