How to Use

Dosage

The typical starting dose is 10-30 mg per day. Your doctor will adjust the dose, usually to 60-120 mg per day, to manage withdrawal symptoms.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth, exactly as your doctor prescribes. Never inject this medicine, as it can be very harmful or even deadly.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor has prescribed. Never take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

  • Awareness of your own heartbeats (palpitations)
  • Low potassium or magnesium levels in blood

  • Becoming dependent on Metadon Nordic Drugs
  • Sleep apnea (breathing stops during sleep)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to methadone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in it.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have used certain depression or Parkinson's medicines (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have severe breathing difficulties.
  • This medicine must NOT be given to children. Keep it in a safe place, out of their reach.
  • Tell your doctor if you have acute asthma attacks, lung disease, or ongoing breathing problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, including kidney or gallstones.
  • Tell your doctor if you have heart problems, as high doses of this medicine can affect your heart's electrical activity.
  • Tell your doctor if you have an underactive thyroid, skin diseases, an enlarged prostate, or a narrowed urinary tube.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had a head injury or high pressure in your brain.
  • Tell your doctor if you are being treated for drug addiction or an opioid overdose.
  • Tell your doctor if you have difficulty urinating, stomach pain, diarrhea, constipation, low oxygen levels, or high carbon dioxide levels in your blood.
  • Be careful if you are taking other strong pain medicines (opioids) like morphine, or medicines that make you sleepy (sedatives or sleeping pills).
  • Contact your doctor right away if you get changes in mood (like agitation, seeing or hearing things, or coma), fast heartbeat, fever, stiff muscles, or stomach problems (like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), especially if you are also taking antidepressants.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine, as it can cause serious side effects. Also, do not drink grapefruit juice, as it can change how the medicine works.
  • If you are pregnant, planning to be pregnant, or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. Do not take it during labor. Watch your baby for unusual sleepiness, breathing problems, or limpness if breastfeeding.
  • This medicine can affect your coordination. Do not drive or use machines until your dose is stable and you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Tell your doctor if you feel weak, tired, have no appetite, nausea, vomiting, or low blood pressure. These could be signs of a problem with your adrenal glands.
  • If you use this medicine for a long time, it can affect your hormones. Tell your doctor if you notice a decreased sex drive, difficulty getting an erection, or missed periods.
  • This medicine can cause sleep apnea (where you stop breathing for short periods during sleep). If you or someone else notices this, tell your doctor.
