How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will decide your correct dose. The usual starting dose is 10-30 mg per day, slowly increased. The typical daily dose is 60-120 mg.

Method

Take this medicine by mouth exactly as your doctor tells you. Never inject this medicine.

Important

Do not take more than your doctor has prescribed.

  • Feeling sick or throwing up (nausea or vomiting)

  • Swelling due to fluid in the body
  • Constipation (difficulty passing stool)
  • Feeling overly happy (euphoria)
  • Seeing or hearing things that are not real (hallucinations)
  • Feeling dizzy or like you're spinning
  • Blurry vision
  • Very small pupils
  • Feeling sleepy
  • Skin rash
  • Sweating a lot
  • Feeling tired
RARE
  • Loss of appetite
  • Trouble breathing (and cough)
  • Dry mouth
  • Swollen or sore tongue
  • Feeling sad or unhappy
  • Feeling restless or agitated
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Feeling confused
  • Less interest in sex
  • Headache
  • Fainting
  • Low blood pressure
  • Itching
  • Hives (itchy red bumps)
  • Swelling in feet or legs
  • Feeling weak
  • Severe fluid build-up in the body (edema)
  • Pain from bile duct spasms (stomach pain)
  • Redness in the face
  • Trouble urinating
  • Difficulty getting or keeping an erection
  • Irregular periods
  • Heart problems
  • Slow heart rate
  • Feeling your heart beat (palpitations)
  • Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood
  • Low number of platelets in the blood
  • Low blood sugar
  • Becoming dependent on Metadon Nordic Drugs
  • Pauses in breathing during sleep (sleep apnea)

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to methadone or its ingredients.
  • Do not take if you have used certain depression or Parkinson's medicines (MAO inhibitors) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take if you have severe breathing problems or acute asthma attacks.
  • This medicine must not be given to children.
  • Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney, or heart problems.

  • Tell your doctor if you have had a head injury or high pressure in your brain.
  • Tell your doctor if you take other opioid pain medicines, tranquilizers, or sleeping pills.
  • Do not drink alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine.
  • This medicine can cause dependence. Never take more than prescribed.
  • Never take a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
  • Always keep this medicine in a safe place, out of reach of children.
