How to Use

Dosage

The usual starting dose is 10-30 mg per day. The dose is slowly increased until withdrawal or overdose symptoms are absent. The common dose is 60-120 mg per day.

Method

This medicine must be taken by mouth only. Never inject it.

Important

Do not take more than the dose your doctor has agreed with you.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to methadone hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Do not take this medicine if you are taking or have taken MAO inhibitors (medicines for depression or Parkinson's disease) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have serious breathing difficulties.
  • Metadon Nordic Drugs must not be given to children.
  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you have acute asthma attacks.

  • Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine if you are taking sedatives or sleeping pills (e.g., barbiturates, benzodiazepines).
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience mental changes (like agitation, hallucinations, coma), fast heart rate, unstable blood pressure, fever, overactive reflexes, poor coordination, stiff muscles, or stomach issues (like nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) as these could be signs of a serious interaction.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking this medicine as it can cause serious side effects.
  • Do not drink grapefruit juice during treatment with Metadon Nordic Drugs, as it can change how the medicine works.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding, as this medicine should not be taken during childbirth and can affect your baby.
  • This medicine can affect your ability to drive or use machines, especially at the start of treatment, until your dose is stable.
  • This medicine contains sugar (sucrose and glucose), which is important for diabetic patients or if you have a sugar intolerance. It can also harm teeth.
  • The preservative methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218) can cause allergic reactions.
