How to Use

Dosage

For opioid dependence, the usual starting dose is 10-30 mg daily, which can be increased to 60-120 mg daily. For severe pain, the usual starting dose is 5 mg, 1-3 times a day, and can be slowly increased.

Method

Take the tablets by mouth. Do not inject them.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 150 mg for opioid dependence and 100 mg for severe pain.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to metadon or any other ingredient.
  • Do not take this medicine if you have used certain depression medicines (MAOIs) in the last two weeks.
  • Do not use if you have severe breathing problems or very slow and shallow breathing.
  • This medicine should not be given to children.
  • Do not drink alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking this medicine, as it can cause serious side effects or change how the medicine works.
