Mesalazin Orion is a medicine that helps reduce inflammation in your large intestine and rectum, used for ulcerative colitis.
For flare-ups: one suppository 2–3 times a day. For long-term treatment when symptoms are calm: one suppository 1–2 times a day. Your doctor will tell you the exact dose.
Insert the suppository into your rectum through your anus. Do not swallow it. Go to the toilet before use. Lie on your left side when inserting and stay in that position for about 1 hour. Keep it in your rectum for 1-3 hours for best effect.
Do not use more than 3 suppositories (1500 mg) in 24 hours.
Suitable for older adults, with specific precautions. Consider renal impairment. Do not use in severe renal impairment. Remember blood tests to monitor safety. (updated 20.5.2024)
