How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you your dose; usually, it starts with one 75 IU vial daily, or 150-300 IU daily for IVF treatment.

Method

Meriofert Set is given as a shot under the skin or into a muscle.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 450 IU.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • Headache
  • Bloated or swollen stomach
  • Over-stimulation of ovaries (cysts, lower belly pain, thirst, nausea, vomiting, weight gain, small amount of urine)
  • Belly pain or discomfort
  • Pelvic pain
  • Back pain
  • Feeling of heaviness
  • Breast discomfort
  • Dizziness
  • Hot flashes
  • Thirst
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • General feeling of being unwell
  • Injection site reaction (like pain and swelling)
RARE
  • Ovarian twisting (the ovary twists, causing very strong lower belly pain)
  • Blood clot (a clot forming in a blood vessel that can travel and block another vessel)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use Meriofert Set if you have certain ovary problems, like large cysts or bleeding you don't know the cause of.
  • Tell your doctor if you have or have had cancer in your ovaries, womb, breasts, or brain.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to menotropin or any of its ingredients.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have early menopause or a misshapen womb that would prevent a normal pregnancy.
  • This treatment can increase the risk of over-stimulating your ovaries (OHSS). If you get symptoms like belly pain, nausea, or weight gain, contact your doctor right away and avoid getting pregnant.

  • Meriofert Set treatment can increase the risk of blood clots, especially if you or your family have had blood clots or if you are very overweight.
  • Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
