How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will tell you the exact dose. Usually, it's 75 to 150 IU per day, but it can be increased up to 450 IU per day based on your response.

Method

Menopur is a powder that you mix with a liquid and inject under your skin. A doctor or nurse will show you how to do it.

Important

Do not take more than 450 IU in a single day.

  • Muscle and joint pain (back, neck, and joint pain, and pain in arms and legs)
  • Ovarian torsion (twisting of an ovary due to ovarian hyperstimulation)
  • Hives (Urticaria)
  • Blood clots (due to ovarian hyperstimulation)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to menotropin or any other ingredient in Menopur.
  • Do not use if you have tumors in your uterus, ovaries, breasts, or parts of your brain (like the pituitary or hypothalamus).
  • Do not use if you have fluid-filled cysts on your ovaries (unless it's from polycystic ovary syndrome) or enlarged ovaries.
  • Do not use if you have abnormalities in your uterus or other reproductive organs, or unexplained vaginal bleeding.
  • Do not use if you have benign muscle growths in your uterus (uterine fibroids).

  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Do not use if you have gone through early menopause.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop stomach pain, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight gain, difficulty breathing, or decreased urination. These could be signs of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS), which can be serious.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience an allergic reaction with symptoms like rash, itching, throat swelling, or difficulty breathing.
  • Tell your doctor if you have thyroid or adrenal gland problems, high prolactin levels, or tumors in your pituitary or hypothalamus.
  • Treatment with Menopur can increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside the womb), especially if you have had problems with your fallopian tubes before.
  • There is an increased risk of miscarriage and having twins, triplets, or more babies.
  • There is a slightly increased risk of birth defects in babies.
  • Fertility treatments can increase the risk of blood clots, especially if you are overweight, have a blood clotting disorder, or have a family history of blood clots. Tell your doctor if this applies to you.
