How to Use

Dosage

Your doctor will prescribe a dose, starting with a small amount and gradually increasing to 20 mg once a day.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth once a day, whole with water. You can take it with or without food.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg once a day.

Important Warnings

  • Do not take if you are allergic to memantine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have had epileptic seizures.
  • Inform your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack, or suffer from heart failure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • If you have kidney problems, your doctor will monitor your kidney function and may adjust your dose.
  • Avoid taking this medicine with amantadine (for Parkinson's), ketamine (an anesthetic), dextromethorphan (for cough), or other NMDA antagonists.

  • This medicine may affect your reaction time, making driving or operating machinery unsafe.
  • Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
