How to Use

Dosage

The typical starting dose is 0.5 ml (one pump or pipette measure) once daily for the first week. This dose is gradually increased weekly to a maximum of 2 ml (four pumps or pipette measures) once daily from the fourth week onwards.

Method

Take Memantin Stada by mouth once daily with a little water. You can take it with or without food. Do not pour or pump directly into your mouth; measure the dose with a spoon or in a glass of water.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 20 mg, which is 2 ml (four pumpings or pipette measures), taken once a day.

Possible Side Effects

COMMON
  • headache
  • drowsiness
  • constipation
  • elevated liver enzyme levels (seen in blood tests)
  • dizziness
  • balance problems
  • shortness of breath
  • high blood pressure
  • hypersensitivity to the medicine (allergic reaction)
RARE
  • fatigue
  • fungal infections
  • confusion
  • hallucinations
  • vomiting
  • abnormal gait (problems walking)
  • heart failure
  • blood clots in veins
  • epileptic seizures
  • inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis)
  • liver inflammation (hepatitis)
  • psychotic reactions (severe mental changes)
  • depression, suicidal thoughts, or suicide (these are linked to Alzheimer's disease but have been reported in patients taking Memantin Stada)

Important Warnings

  • Do not use if you are allergic to memantine hydrochloride or any other ingredient in this medicine.
  • Tell your doctor if you have ever had epileptic seizures.
  • Tell your doctor if you have recently had a heart attack, or if you have heart failure or uncontrolled high blood pressure.
  • If you have kidney problems, your doctor may need to adjust your dose and monitor your kidney function closely.
  • Avoid using this medicine with amantadine (for Parkinson's disease), ketamine (an anesthetic), dextromethorphan (for coughs), and other similar medicines (NMDA antagonists).

  • Memantin Stada is not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
  • Do not use Memantin Stada if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • This medicine may affect your reaction time, making it unsafe to drive or operate machinery.

Category C
