How to Use

Dosage

The recommended starting dose is 0.5–2 mg, taken 30–60 minutes before bedtime.

Method

Take the tablet by mouth. You can crush the tablet and mix it with water before taking it.

Important

The maximum daily dose is 5 mg, regardless of age.

  • Changes in blood tests that can make skin and eyes yellow
  • Skin swelling, itching, rash, dry skin, or night sweats
  • Pain in your arms or legs
  • Sugar in your urine or too much protein in your urine
  • Menopause symptoms in women
  • Feeling weak or chest pain
  • Weight gain
  • Shingles (herpes zoster)
  • Fewer white blood cells or platelets in your blood
  • Low calcium or sodium levels in your blood
  • High fat levels in your blood
  • Mood changes, aggression, agitation, crying easily, stress, confusion (not knowing where you are or the time), waking up early, increased sex drive, low mood, or depression
  • Fainting, memory problems, trouble focusing, dreamy state, restless legs syndrome, poor sleep, tingling or numbness of the skin
  • Weak or blurry vision, increased tear production
  • Spinning sensation (vertigo), dizziness when standing or sitting
  • Chest pain when moving, fast heartbeat, hot flashes
  • Acid reflux, stomach problems, mouth blisters, tongue sores, vomiting, strange bowel sounds, gas, more saliva, bad breath, uncomfortable stomach, inflammation of the stomach lining
  • Eczema, redness, hand skin inflammation, itchy rash, psoriasis, nail problems
  • Joint pain, muscle cramps, neck pain, nighttime muscle cramps
  • Increased urination, peeing at night, red blood cells in urine
  • Long and painful erection (without sexual stimulation), prostate inflammation
  • Fatigue, pain, thirst
  • High liver enzyme levels, abnormal blood salt levels, and other abnormal lab test results
  • Abnormal breast milk discharge (also in men)
  • High blood sugar levels

Important Warnings

  • Do not take Mellozzan if you are allergic to melatonin or any other ingredients in this medicine.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have diabetes or problems with blood sugar, as this medicine might raise blood sugar levels. Avoid eating 2 hours before and after taking Mellozzan.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems.
  • Talk to your doctor if you have an autoimmune disease (where your body's immune system attacks itself).
  • Talk to your doctor if you have epilepsy, as melatonin might increase seizures.

  • If you are a woman who can get pregnant, you must use birth control while taking Mellozzan. Mellozzan is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Smoking can make Mellozzan less effective. Tell your doctor if you smoke or plan to start/stop.
  • Do not give this medicine to children under 6 years old.
  • Do not drink alcohol before, during, or after taking Mellozzan, as it can reduce the medicine's effect.
  • Mellozzan can make you feel sleepy. If you feel sleepy, do not drive, ride a bicycle, or operate machinery.
  • If you take too much Mellozzan, contact a doctor, hospital, or poison control center immediately. Taking more than the recommended daily dose can make you sleepy.
  • Stop taking Mellozzan and contact a doctor immediately if you experience an allergic reaction like itching, trouble breathing, swelling of the face, mouth, or tongue, or chest pain.
